Chanel Rouge CoCo Stylo Review

Chanel Rouge CoCo Stylo Review

I love walking around Nordstrom’s beauty department taking all of the new cosmetic releases in and figuring out what I want to try. I have loved Chanel products for some time now, but I am a little picky when it comes to what I buy from Chanel.

I have had some major expensive hit or misses with this line, so I tend to be a little cautious with what I purchase. The mascara that I bought in November (Urban Decay’s Perversion) was at its expiration date; I was on the hunt for something new and full of volume.

I had previously tried a sample of Chanel’s Le Volume Mascara and loved the wand, creamy texture of the mascara and how thick my lashes looked. I was very surprised because when you use a mini sample tube of anything you usually get sub-par results. I have always picked the mascara not only for the type of wand that they have but the consistency of the formulation. That is where the magic is not just with the wand. I tried out my new Chanel mascara on a recent photo shoot I did last week and loved how it came out.

I was looking for an eye-opening effect, and Chanel’s Volume Mascara nails it with their exclusive Snowflakes brush. The brush combines short and long bristles to fully plump your lashes. I can get intense volume with just one coat but on days that I am feeling and looking a little tired, I will do two to three coats to maximize the eye opening effect.

Be careful when you sign up on Chanel’s website for updates and notifications this is where I get into trouble and how I end up feeding my beauty addiction.

In addition to purchasing their mascara, I also went a little daring with the latest lip collection from Chanel called Rouge Coco Stylo. I ordered the color that Keira Knightley had on in the email. It’s called Histoire #206. I wear lip gloss every day all day, so I am drawn to lip color that promises hydration plus intense shine.

What intrigued me about this collection is that it has the intensity of a lipstick with the shine of a lip gloss and the comfort of a lip balm. It’s a super creamy and lightweight formula that I love wearing all day long. This color is bright and bold but at the same time classic and not too overbearing. The formula is infused with Apple Seed extract, Jojoba oil, Coconut oil, Silk powder, and beeswax to give you that 3D shine. It comes in eight gorgeous shades. The twist up packaging makes it easy to apply on the go.

I styled myself for the photo shoot in a black Diane von Furstenberg cashmere sweater with Celine black pants on a white background. I wanted my Chanel Rouge Coco to be the main attraction. You might also notice that I am wearing Chanel’s Vamp nail color on my toes. This color was finally restocked on the Chanel website.  I had been searching for this cult color since November.

Yes, Chanel is a bit on the pricey side for cosmetics, but if you purchase wisely you will not be disappointed. In fact, I can almost guarantee you will find a couple of products that you can not live without on a daily basis, I know I have. Let’s hope I don’t get any more emails this week from Chanel.

Le Volume Mascara: $32

Rouge CoCo Stylo: $37
