Harbour Island Wedding

Harbour Island is probably one of the best kept secrets when it comes to a destination wedding. I have had the opportunity for the past decade to travel to Harbour Island many times and experience this unique island. This past spring I had another bride that fell in love with Harbour Island and decided to have her destination wedding at the Pink Sands Resort. The entire weekend celebration was captured by the incredibly talented photographer, Tina Rowden.

If you don’t know about Harbour Island you are truly missing out.  This island is part of the Bahamas located off the northeast coast of Eleuthera Island.  The only town on the island is Dunmore Town named after the governor of the Bahamas. Harbour Island is famous for its pink sand beaches. To get to the island you can fly direct from Fort Lauderdale International Airport into North Eleuthera Airport, from there, it is just a short water taxi ride to the island.

Harbour Island has been rated as one of the “Best Bahamas Beaches” by the Travel Channel as well as numerous other publications.  The island known for its three and a half miles of hard packed picture perfect pink sand beaches. One of the best perks for my brides is the weather.  Average high temperatures are in the mid 70’s and 80’s with lows in the mid 60’s and 70’s year around.  I have experienced the weather in the spring, dead of summer and the gorgeous winter months. I can tell you that even in the hot and sweaty summer months the island is a true beauty.

I created a beautiful modern up-do for the bride and kept her makeup beachy and clean with bronze highlights for the wedding day.  I always come stocked with everything you could possibly need for the bride getting married on an island. It’s important to understand for a bride that is getting married on an island that it is a completely different experience from getting married in the US. There are many factors to consider when you book your hair and makeup artist. First, you want to make sure they know the property/island and how to get around. Weather is a huge factor when it comes to makeup and hair on an island or beach. I always have my professional kit, bullet proof pins, my go to hair spray that will give beach wind a run for its money and blotting papers.
