The Chicest Place To Stay in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
As a native Floridian, I have been around long enough to know what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to where to stay in South Florida. I am sharing with you today one of my secret hideaways that not too many people know exists here in Fort Lauderdale. Welcome to the Pillars Hotel a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway this sleepy eighteen room paradise is just what summer ordered. Take a step back in time as I show you all the charm this boutique hotel has to offer.

I think of the Pillars Hotel as my little beach house with an edge the vibe taps into a mix of classic British Colonial architecture and 1930’s “Art Deco.” You feel like you are leaving the hustle and bustle of the modern world and into the warm, carefree days of old Florida. As I walked up to the front of the hotel, I felt as if I was arriving at the doorstep of an old friends house.

I checked in at the quaint reception desk next to the wine cellar and was offered a crisp bubbly Prosecco as the welcome drink it was the perfect beginning to my evening. With my drink in hand, I received a guided tour of the exquisite property. I made dinner reservations for that night in their restaurant appropriately named “Secret Garden.” The gourmet dining created by Chef Hammi at the Pillars is only available to hotel guests and members of the hotel’s private dining club. I had the option to eat in the dining room or dockside overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. The dining club concept was created to provide guests with an intimate and unique dining experience. Beyond delicious with unbelievable presentations Chef Hammi believes that excellent food preparation should take advantage of nature’s bounty and combines fresh food with interesting cross-cultural ingredients. I am still dreaming of the pan roasted peaches topped with citrus mascarpone cream, candied bacon on a bed of arugula with a maple vinaigrette is your mouth watering yet?

I had probably one of the best night’s sleep in my oversized suite with plush linens, a bed that felt like a cloud, spa robe, Molton Brown Japanese Orange toiletries what more could a beauty girl ask for? Waking up to freshly brewed coffee and warm French pastries I thought I died and went to heaven. I lounged around in my spa robe, read the paper, journaled and just sat and looked at the view from my balcony. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful sunrise, and I was ready for a relaxing day filled with doing nothing.

There are many things you can do at the Pillars or nothing at all. Sneak away into their library and get lost in literature or settle into one of their couches near the fireplace and enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine. I took advantage of the sparkling crystal clear pool with my favorite magazines and cool cranberry lemonade. If you are feeling like a little sand between your toes you can walk a block across the street to the beach or take an Uber to the world-famous Las Olas Boulevard for a bit of shopping. When you stay at the Pillars hotel, you don’t want to leave the oasis but if you do everything is steps away.

I was looking forward to lunch since dinner was out of this world. I decided on a simple organic chicken sandwich that had fresh mozzarella, baby greens, tomato and olive tapenade on ciabatta bread. Every meal prepared at the Secret Garden shows such detail from a handful of potato chips to a mini salad.

I loved walking around the property and relaxing after lunch. I don’t get a lot of downtime between being an On-Air Beauty Expert, seeing clients daily in the studio and filming for my beauty YouTube channel, so it’s a nice local getaway when I get the chance to relax, grab one of my favorite glasses of Rose and let my mind be idle.

If hanging by the pool all day and soaking up the gorgeous views of the sailboats is not tranquil enough I had my own Nespresso in my suite waiting to be brewed at 4 pm. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I show you practically every day my Nespresso obsession. A shot of espresso was just what I needed for a pick-me-up.

After a little disco nap, I was ready to go downstairs and enjoy fantastic food, great conversation, and a chilled martini. I have the Pillars Hotel on speed dial for the weekends that I want to disconnect and reconnect with myself.
